Intermediates used in producing benzothiazole derivatives useful for preventing and treating diseases against which the activity of inhibiting leucotriene and thromboxane production is efficacious; and a process for producing the same. The process comprises condensing a hydroquinone derivative with a pyridylcarboxaldehyde derivative without protecting the hydroxyl groups of the hydroquinone and oxidizing the formed pyridylmethylhydroquinone derivative into a pyridylmethyl-1,4-benzoquinone derivative. Intermédiaires utilisables dans la production de dérivés de benzothiazole utilisables dans la prophylaxie et le traitement des maladies contre lesquelles l'activité d'inhibition de la production de leucotriène et de thromboxane est efficace; et leur procédé de production. Le procédé consiste à condenser un dérivé d'hydroquinone avec un dérivé de pyridylcarboxaldéhyde sans protéger les groupes hydroxyles de l'hydroquinone, et à transformer par oxydation le dérivé de pyridylméthylhydroquinone ainsi obtenu en dérivé de pyridylméthyl-1,4-benzoquinone.
