Abstract It is possible to handle a sudden input from projections or the like when the vibrations of the vehicle body are very small and stable, while realizing characteristics close to those of a skyhook damper by making a damping force on the stretched side greater and a damping force on the contracted side smaller when a suspended speed signal V is greater than the suspended speed threshold V1 (> 0), by making a damping force on the contracted side greater and a damping force on the stretched side smaller when a suspended speed signal V is smaller than the suspended speed threshold V2 (< 0), and by making damping forces both on the stretched and contracted sides small when a suspended speed signal V is between the suspended speed thresholds V1 and V2.
