Abstract Provided is an aluminum nitride powder for which, in a particle size distribution measured by a laser diffraction scattering-type particle size distribution meter, the cumulative volume 50% particle diameter (D50) is 0.3-1.0 µm, the proportion of particles of 0.20 µm or less is 10% or less in terms of volume frequency, a ratio of the D50 to the average primary particle diameter (Dp: μm) of 500 particles observed with a scanning electron microscope at a magnification of 20,000 times, that is, the ratio of D50/Dp, is 1.0-1.4, and the average circularity is 0.7 or greater.
