Abstract Source image blocks are determined from a source image. Image blocks of different formats are generated from the source image blocks. Total numbers of source packets for the plurality of image blocks are determined. A transmission plan that assigns total numbers of coded packets for the image blocks is generated. The coded packets are generated from applying rateless coding to respective source packets for the image blocks. The coded packets are encoded into a bitstream to enable a recipient device of the bitstream to generate a reconstructed image corresponding to the source image. Des blocs d'image source sont déterminés à partir d'une image source. Des blocs d'image de différents formats sont générés à partir des blocs d'image source. Des nombres totaux de paquets sources pour la pluralité de blocs d'image sont déterminés. Un plan de transmission qui attribue des nombres totaux de paquets codés pour les blocs d'image est généré. Les paquets codés sont générés par application d'un codage sans rendement à des paquets sources respectifs pour les blocs d'image.
