For effective handling events in a computing system, a controller determines a latency time required for performing an operation of a specific type by one or more hardware components other than a central processing unit, CPU, in the computing system. Then CPU resources are released from an execution of an application for the latency time in an event of the application requesting the one or more hardware components to perform the operation of said specific type. It allows optimizing the latency of performance of the computing system and resource utilization, such as CPU utilization. Pour traiter efficacement des événements dans un système informatique, un contrôleur détermine un temps de latence requis pour effectuer une opération d'un type spécifique par un ou plusieurs composants matériels autres qu'une unité centrale de traitement, CPU, dans le système informatique. Ensuite, des ressources de CPU sont libérées de l'exécution d'une application pendant le temps de latence dans le cas où l'application demande au ou aux composants matériels d'effectuer l'opération dudit type spécifique. Ceci permet d'optimiser la latence de performance du système informatique et l'utilisation de ressources, telle que l'utilisation de CPU.
