This method for forming a linear pattern containing solid particles comprises: a step for bringing a transfer plate having a projection extending in a prescribed direction into contact with a solid particle-containing material to be transferred and causing solid particles to be retained on the projection; a step for pressing the projection against a base material; and a step for separating the projection from the base material. The projection has, in the width direction orthogonal to the prescribed direction, a distribution of retentive force for retaining the material to be transferred such that a region with a high retention force is interposed between regions with a low retention force, and also includes a portion with a lower elastic modulus than that of the solid particles.
