The invention relates to a method for accelerating the time to flowering of a plant and/or for increasing the amount of flowers and/or fruits produced by said plant of the family rubiaceae, the method comprising providing a plant seed or plant part which is capable of regeneration, cultivating the same to a stage in which a cultivated shoot is obtained that comprises a fork from which an orthotropic shoot and at least two plagiotropic branches have developed, pruning the cultivated shoot at said fork by removing at least the orthotropic shoot and maintaining at least one plagiotropic branch to obtain a pruned shoot, cultivating the pruned shoot until flowers form on the at least one plagiotropic branch to obtain a flowered shoot. L'invention concerne un procédé d'accélération du temps de floraison d'une plante et/ou d'augmentation de la quantité de fleurs et/ou de fruits produits par ladite plante de la famille des rubiacées, le procédé consistant à fournir une graine de plante ou une partie de plante qui est capable de se régénérer, la cultiver jusqu'à une étape dans laquelle une pousse cultivée est obtenue, laquelle comprend une fourche à partir de laquelle une pousse orthotrope et au moins deux branches plagiotropes se sont développées, tailler la pousse cultivée au niveau de ladite fourche en retirant au moins la pousse orthotrope et en conservant au moins une branche plagiotrope pour obtenir une pousse taillée, cultiver la pousse taillée jusqu'à ce que des fleurs se forment sur ladite branche plagiotrope pour obtenir une pousse fleurie.
