Abstract The authentication system comprises: an acquisition unit that acquires an audio signal of a speaker's spoken voice; a detection unit that detects a first utterance interval spoken by the speaker from the audio signal and a second utterance interval spoken by the speaker from the audio signals of a database in which are registered audio signals of a plurality of speakers; a determination unit that compares a first audio signal of the first utterance interval and a second audio signal of the second utterance interval and determines authentication conditions for authentication using the first audio signal based on the length of the second audio signal of the second utterance interval or the number of sounds included in the second utterance interval; and an authentication unit that authenticates the speaker.
