Abstract The present invention provides a glass article that is appropriately cut out, and in which cracks are inhibited from occurring in a fracture surface. This method for producing a glass article comprises: irradiating a base material (10) with pulsed oscillation laser light along a virtual line (T) set in the main surface (10A) of the base material (10) to form a plurality of modified portions (H) in the base material (10) along the virtual line (T); and breaking the base material (10) using the modified portions (H) along the virtual line (T) as starting points, to cut out a portion of the base material (10), thereby obtaining a glass article. The minimum pulse interval of the laser light is more than 1 μs, and the pulse width of the laser light is 15-100 ps.
