Abstract The invention relates to a process for preparing a polyurethane foam having a density lower than 30 kg/m3 which process comprises reacting, in the presence of a blowing agent: a) a polyisocyanate component; b) a polyether polyol component having a molecular weight of at least 1,000 g/mol and a functionality which is higher than 1.5 and lower than 2.5; and c) a chain extender component having a molecular weight of at most 500 g/mol and a functionality which is higher than 1.5 and lower than 2.5. L'invention concerne un processus de préparation d'une mousse de polyuréthane ayant une densité inférieure à 30 kg/m3, ledit processus consistant à faire réagir, en présence d'un agent gonflant : a) un composant polyisocyanate ; b) un composant polyéther polyol ayant un poids moléculaire d'au moins 1 000 g/mol et une fonctionnalité qui est supérieure à 1,5 et inférieure à 2,5 ; et c) un composant allongeur de chaîne ayant un poids moléculaire d'au plus 500 g/mol et une fonctionnalité qui est supérieure à 1,5 et inférieure à 2,5.
