Abstract | A light detection device is provided in which each pixel G comprises a plurality of APDs. Each APD forms a light reception region R and operates in Geiger mode. The plurality of APDs 11 form a plurality of light reception regions R in a pixel region α occupied by corresponding pixels G among the plurality of pixels G, the plurality of light reception regions R being arrayed in a direction along a main surface 40a. A MOS switch circuit region β overlaps the plurality of light reception regions R when viewed from a Z-axis direction. When viewed from the Z-axis direction, the area of the MOS switch circuit region β is greater than the area of one light reception region formed in the pixel region α, and is less than or equal to the area of the pixel region α. The plurality of APDs included in each pixel G are electrically connected in parallel to each other, and are each connected to a MOS switch circuit.
