Abstract An enthalpy exchange element paper for enthalpy exchangers with excellent strength and barrier properties, wherein the enthalpy exchange element paper comprises a base sheet containing natural pulp, the base sheet contains natural pulp having a length weighted average fiber length of 0.7-1.7 mm, the mode peak of the natural pulp in a fiber length histogram is between 0.5 and 1.5 mm, and the percentage of fibers having a fiber length of 1.0 mm or more among the natural pulp is 20% or greater.
