A printing apparatus supporting USB type-C comprises: a USB type-C interface unit supporting connection with an external device; a printing unit for performing printing; and a control unit for controlling the power supply to the external device, wherein the control unit confirms the amount of power received from an external power source, estimates estimated power consumption of the printing apparatus and/or the external device, determines the amount of power supply which is to be transmitted to the external device on the basis of the amount of power received and the estimated power consumption, and transmits the amount of power supply to the external device by means of the USB type-C interface unit.
