Abstract Embodiments of the present application relate to the technical field of video encoding and decoding. Disclosed are an image filtering method and apparatus, and a video codec, which can be applied to, for example, but are not limited to, a de-blocking effect filtering scenario, and facilitate improving the video encoding and decoding performance. The image filtering method may comprise: determining, on the basis of size information of a current image block to be filtered, a target filter for filtering the current image block, the size information of the current image block comprising width or height of the current image block; and filtering the current image block by using the target filter. The technical solution disclosed in the embodiments of the present application can be applied to the next generation video encoding and decoding technology.
