Abstract The present invention relates to a cathode active material for a lithium secondary battery, a method for manufacturing the same, and a lithium secondary battery comprising the same. The cathode active material for a lithium secondary battery comprises a core and a coating layer, wherein the core is a lithium metal oxide, the coating layer contains boron, and a boron compound in the coating layer contains a lithium boron oxide and a boron oxide, wherein the lithium boron oxide is at least 70 wt% and and not more than 99 wt% in the entire coating layer, the lithium boron oxide contains Li2B4O7, and the content of Li2B4O7 is 55-99 wt% with respect 100 wt% of the lithium boron oxide.
