Abstract A method for detecting a person in an elevator cabin (12) comprises: measuring a load signal (26) with a load sensor (24), wherein a level of the load signal (26) is indicative of a load inside the elevator cabin (12); analysing the load signal (26) for ripples (30) having more than a minimal deviation from an averaged load signal (26); and deciding that a person is in the elevator cabin (12), when ripples (30) have been detected. L'invention concerne un procédé de détection d'une personne dans une cabine d'ascenseur (12) comprenant : la mesure d'un signal de charge (26) avec un capteur de charge (24), un niveau du signal de charge (26) indiquant une charge à l'intérieur de la cabine d'ascenseur (12); l'analyse du signal de charge (26) pour déterminer des ondulations (30) présentant plus d'un écart minimal par rapport à un signal de charge moyenné (26); et la détermination du fait qu'une personne se trouve dans la cabine d'ascenseur (12) lorsque des ondulations (30) ont été détectées.
