Abstract Provided is a molding device (30, 30a) used for manufacturing a molded surface fastener (10, 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d, 10e, 10f), wherein a die wheel (32) that is rotationally driven has a concentric double-layer cylindrical structure provided with an outer cylindrical body (33) that has drilled therethrough a plurality of penetrating holes (38), and an inner cylindrical body (34, 34a, 34b, 34c, 34d, 34e) that has formed, in the outer peripheral surface thereof, a plurality of recesses (40, 43, 44, 45, 46a, 46b, 47), the recesses (40, 43, 44, 45, 46a, 46b, 47) located in the inner cylindrical body (34, 34a, 34b, 34c, 34d, 34e) include a use recess (41) that intersects with the penetrating hole (38) of the outer cylindrical body (33) and a non-use recess (42) that is covered by the inner peripheral surface of the outer cylindrical body (33). By using this molding device (30, 30a), obtained is a molded surface fastener (10, 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d, 10e, 10f) in which a plurality of types of engaging elements (20, 50, 55a, 60, 70, 75a, 80, 90, 100) having differing shapes in plan view are arranged periodically in a reference direction.
