Abstract Various embodiments of the present invention relate to an apparatus and a method for preventing overcharging of a battery in an electronic device. Here, the electronic device comprises a battery, at least one processor, and a memory electrically connected to the at least one processor, wherein the memory can store instructions which, when executed, causes the at least one processor to: when connected to an external power supply, set a charge safety time corresponding to the external power supply; charge the battery on the basis of at least a part of the power of the external power supply; and update the charge safety time on the basis of a change in at least one from among a charge current and a discharge current of the battery. Other embodiments may also be possible. Divers modes de réalisation de la présente invention concernent un appareil et un procédé de pour empêcher la surcharge d'une batterie dans un dispositif électronique. Selon l'invention, le dispositif électronique comprend une batterie, au moins un processeur et une mémoire connectée électriquement au ou aux processeurs, la mémoire pouvant stocker des instructions qui, lorsqu'elles sont exécutées, amènent le ou les processeurs à : lorsqu'ils sont connectés à une alimentation électrique externe, régler un temps de sécurité de charge correspondant à l'alimentation électrique externe; charger la batterie sur la base d'au moins une partie de la puissance de l'alimentation électrique externe; et mettre à jour le temps de sécurité de charge sur la base d'un changement d'au moins un courant parmi un courant de charge et un courant de décharge de la batterie.
