Summary: | The invention provides a process comprising reacting an epoxy novolac resin with monohydroxy aromatic compound, optionally in the presence of a poly-functional agent for linking together the epoxy novolac chains. The polymers thus obtained are modified, solid, novolac epoxy resins which are useful as stabilizers for flame retardants such as polystyrene-block- brominated polybutadiene-block-polystyrene.
