Summary:The invention relates to a method of applying a catalyst, such as TiO2, to glass beads (10) used in a photocatalytic water purification process. The method envisages to subject the surface of the beads (10) to a mechanical rubbing process in order to increase the roughness thereof. Such application provides a coating having a density of TiO2 greater than can normally be attained. The invention also relates to a coated bead-shaped support and to a photocatalytic water treatment process. L'invention concerne un procédé d'application d'un catalyseur, tel que du TiO2, sur des billes de verre (10) utilisées dans un procédé de purification photocatalytique de l'eau. Le procédé consiste à soumettre la surface des billes (10) à un procédé de frottement mécanique de manière à augmenter leur rugosité. Une telle application permet d'obtenir un revêtement présentant une densité de TiO2 supérieure à celle pouvant être obtenue normalement. L'invention concerne également un support revêtu en forme de billes et un procédé de traitement photocatalytique de l'eau.
