Provided among other things is a breach or contamination indicating elastomeric article for indicating a breach or contamination by a selected chemical or group of chemicals, the article having an exterior and interior and comprising: (a) an interior elastomeric layer selected to resist permeation by the selected chemical(s), which interior layer is colored; and (b) a contiguous or discontiguous indicating layer comprising solid particles of hydrophobic dye effective to provide enhanced color on contacting hexane, cyclohexane, xylene, ethyl ether, butyl acetate, MIBK, methanol, acetonitrile and acetic acid; wherein the distribution of the indicating layer provides for a visually noticeable color change against the background of the colored interior elastomeric layer upon a breach or contamination event by a selected chemical. L'invention porte entre autres sur un article élastomère indicateur de pénétration ou de contamination pour l'indication d'une pénétration ou contamination par un produit chimique ou groupe de produits chimiques choisi, l'article ayant un extérieur et un intérieur et comprenant : (a) une couche élastomère intérieure choisie pour résister à la perméation par le ou les produits chimiques choisis, laquelle couche intérieure est colorée ; et (b) une couche indicatrice contiguë ou disjointe comprenant des particules solides de colorant hydrophobe efficace pour produire une couleur accrue au contact avec de l'hexane, du cyclohexane, du xylène, de l'éther d'éthyle, de l'acétate de butyle, de la MIBK, du méthanol, de l'acétonitrile et de l'acide acétique ; la répartition de la couche indicatrice fournissant un changement de couleur visuellement perceptible par rapport au fond de la couche élastomère intérieure colorée lors d'un événement de pénétration ou de contamination par un produit chimique choisi.
