The present invention efficiently performs wireless communication among a plurality of wireless communication apparatuses. This wireless communication apparatus is provided with a communication unit and a control unit. The communication unit transmits and receives data in first communication mode, in which wireless communication is performed with other wireless communication apparatuses that are present within a predetermined range, and/or in second communication mode, in which wireless communication is performed with other wireless communication apparatuses that are present within a wider range than the predetermined range. In the cases where data transmission/reception is performed, in the first communication mode, with a second wireless communication apparatus via one or a plurality of other wireless communication apparatuses, the control unit sets the second communication mode, and performs control for detecting a third wireless communication apparatus that meets predetermined conditions. La présente invention permet d'effectuer efficacement une communication sans fil entre une pluralité d'appareils de communication sans fil. Cet appareil de communication sans fil est pourvu d'une unité de communication et d'une unité de commande.
