Abstract Provided is a toner whereby stable image densities are obtained throughout long-term use regardless of the use environment and, simultaneously therewith, the occurrence of cleaning failures can be inhibited. The toner comprises fine silica particles and toner particles comprising a binder resin and a colorant, and is characterized in that the average roundness of the toner is 0.950 or higher, the static friction coefficient of the toner against a polycarbonate resin substrate is 0.100-0.200, and the coverage (X1) of the toner surface with the fine silica particles, as determined with an X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (ESCA), is 50.0-75.0% by area. La présente invention concerne un toner par lequel des densités d'images stables sont obtenues tout au long d'une utilisation à long terme quel que soit l'environnement d'utilisation et, simultanément avec cela, l'occurrence de défaillances de nettoyage peut être empêchée.
