Abstract | A fast neutron detection method, which is used to detect the fast neutrons associated with X-ray, includes: the fast neutrons are transmitted trough a neutron moderator (342) so that the X-ray is absorbed and the fast neutrons are moderated into thermal neutrons; and the thermal neutrons are detected by a thermal neutron detector (343) so that the information of the fast neutrons is acquired. A neutron detector (34) includes a neutron moderator (342), which is suitable for absorbing the X-ray passing through it and moderating fast neutrons into thermal neutrons; and a thermal neutron detector (343), which is suitable for detecting the thermal neutrons so that the information of the fast neutrons is acquired. A substance discrimination method using photo neutrons and a substance discrimination method using X-ray and photo neutrons simultaneously are also disclosed.
