A method and a device for locating weak coverage areas in a network are disclosed, in which the method includes: logging call information, which includes pilot and pilot strength of active sets of user terminals before the user terminals are released and the reasons for call release, of all users in a wireless network; determining the dropped call logs caused by poor wireless environment quality within the call information, and then determining the cells wherein lies the user terminals before the user terminals are released according to the pilot of the active sets corresponding to the dropped call logs; analyzing statistically the cells to locate the weak coverage areas in the wireless network. In large-scale commercial networks, the present invention can locate the weak coverage areas in the network rapidly and accurately, implement the optimization solution and instruct the network optimization work relevantly and consequently the objective of optimizing the network efficiently is achieved.
