One exemplary aspect of this invention pertains to a method to evaluate an image processing algorithm. The method includes varying a parameter of a model of an imaging system and, for each variation of the parameter, calculating with a data processor a corresponding image of a sample; applying an image processing algorithm to the calculated corresponding images of the sample; and determining an ability of the image processing algorithm to detect the variation in the parameter. Un aspect de cette invention à titre d'exemple porte sur un procédé d'évaluation d'un algorithme de traitement d'image. Le procédé consiste à faire varier un paramètre d'un modèle d'un système d'imagerie et, pour chaque variation du paramètre, calculer à l'aide d'un processeur de données une image correspondante d'un échantillon ; appliquer un algorithme de traitement d'image aux images correspondantes calculées de l'échantillon ; et déterminer une capacité de l'algorithme de traitement d'image à détecter la variation du paramètre.
