Abstract A light emitting device which is thin and has high light extraction efficiency. A light emitting device is provided with a base which is provided with a recess having a bottom surface and a side wall; an electricity conducting member which has an upper surface exposed at the bottom surface of the recess and also has a lower surface for forming the outer surface of the light emitting device; a protrusion which is provided within the recess; a light emitting element which is mounted within the recess and is electrically connected to the electricity conduction member; and a sealing member which is provided within the recess so as to cover the light emitting element. The base consists of a resin from which the bottom surface and the side wall are formed integrally. The recess has a curved surface provided on the inner surface of the side wall. The protrusion is provided close to the curved surface. As a result of the configuration, the light emitting device has high light extraction efficiency and reliability and is thin and compact. La présente invention concerne un dispositif électroluminescent, mince et à haut rendement d'extraction de lumière, comprenant : une base, pourvue d'un renfoncement comportant une surface de fond et une paroi latérale ; un élément électroconducteur, comportant une surface supérieure exposée au niveau de la surface de fond du renfoncement et une surface inférieure pour former la surface externe du dispositif électroluminescent ; une saillie, pourvue dans le renfoncement ; un élément électroluminescent, monté dans le renfoncement et connecté électriquement à l'élément électroconducteur ; et un élément de scellement, agencé dans le renfoncement de façon à recouvrir l'élément électroluminescent. La base est constituée d'une résine dont sont intégralement formées la surface de fond et la paroi latérale. Le renfoncement présente une surface courbe agencée sur la surface interne de la paroi latérale. La saillie est placée à proximité de la surface courbe. Grâce à cette configuration, le dispositif électroluminescent offre un rendement et une fiabilité élevés en termes d'extraction de lumière, tout en étant mince et compact.
