Disclosed is a method for producing a thiabenzoazulene propionic acid derivative which is useful as the active ingredient of an antihistaminic agent or the like. According to this production method, a thiabenzoazulene propionic acid derivative, wherein a thiabenzoazulene skeleton is substituted by propionic acid at the 2-position, can be produced. The thiabenzoazulene propionic acid derivative thus synthesized has potent histamine H1 receptor antagonism and low intracerebral transfer and, therefore, is useful as the active ingredient of a medicinal composition such as an antihistaminic agent. L'invention porte sur un procédé pour la production d'un dérivé de thiabenzoazulène-acide propionique qui est utile comme ingrédient actif d'un agent antihistaminique ou similaire. Selon ce procédé de production, un dérivé de thiabenzoazulène-acide propionique, dans lequel un squelette de thiabenzoazulène est substitué par l'acide propionique en position 2, peut être produit. Le dérivé de thiabenzoazulène-acide propionique ainsi synthétisé présente un antagonisme puissant contre les récepteurs histaminergiques H1 et un faible transfert intracérébral et, par conséquent, est utile comme ingrédient actif d'une composition médicinale telle qu'un agent antihistaminique.
