Abstract A pneumatic tire for a passenger car, provided with a belt layer and a belt cover layer formed by winding a steel cord material in the tire circumference direction on the outer peripheral side of the belt layer. The steel cord material has a structure in which element wires consisting of steel and having a diameter of less than 0.18 mm are twisted together to form each strand and the strands are twisted together in the same direction as the direction of twisting of the element wires. The twist pitch of each of the strands is less than the twist pitch of the steel cord material, the twist pitch of the strand is in the range from 1.0 mm to 2.1 mm, and the twist pitch of the steel cord material is in the range from 2.0 mm to 5.25 mm. La présente invention se rapporte à un bandage pneumatique pour voiture particulière, pourvu d'une couche ceinture et d'une couche protection de ceinture formée par l'enroulement d'un matériau de câble d'acier dans le sens de la circonférence de pneumatique sur le côté périphérique extérieur de la couche ceinture. Le matériau de câble d'acier présente une structure dans laquelle des fils élémentaires se composant d'acier et ayant un diamètre inférieur à 0,18 mm sont torsadés ensemble afin de former chaque brin et les brins sont torsadés ensemble dans le même sens que le sens de torsion des fils élémentaires.
