Abstract The present invention concerns a fuel ceil comprising a cathode in a cathode region of the cell and an anode in an anode region of the cell, the cathode being separated from the anode by an ion selective polymer electrolyte rnembrane, the cathode region of the cell being supplied in use thereof with an oxidant and a liquid low molecular weight fuel wherein at least some of the liquid low molecular weight fuel in use crosses the polymer electrolyte membrane to supply the anode region of the cell with liquid low molecular weight fuel, the cell being provided with means for generating an electrical circuit between the cathode and the anode. La présente invention porte sur une pile à combustible comprenant une cathode dans une région de cathode de la pile et une anode dans une région d'anode de la pile, la cathode étant séparée de l'anode par une membrane électrolytique polymère sélective des ions, la région de cathode de la pile étant alimentée en utilisation de celle-ci en un oxydant et un combustible de masse moléculaire faible liquide, au moins une partie du combustible de masse moléculaire faible liquide en utilisation traversant la membrane électrolytique polymère pour alimenter la région d'anode de la pile en un combustible de masse moléculaire faible liquide, la pile comportant des moyens pour générer un circuit électrique entre la cathode et l'anode.
