Abstract | A turbocharger shaft (4) is supported for rotation about its axis in a bearing housing (1) by a pair of journal bearings (5,6) disposed between the turbine wheel (2) and the compressor impeller (3). A device (15) such as a hydraulic or magnetic actuator applies a non-axial force to the shaft at an axial location offset from the bearing so as to suppress non-axial sub- synchronous shaft vibrations that occur during operation of the turbocharger. This reduces turbocharger noise.
Selon l'invention, un arbre de compresseur de suralimentation (4) est supporté pour une rotation autour de son axe dans un boîtier de palier (1) par deux paliers lisses (5, 6) disposés entre la roue de turbine (2) et l'hélice de compresseur (3). Un dispositif (15), tel qu'un actionneur hydraulique ou magnétique, applique une force non axiale à l'arbre à un emplacement axial décalé du palier de façon à supprimer les vibrations d'arbre sous-synchrones non axiales qui apparaissent pendant le fonctionnement du compresseur à suralimentation. Ceci réduit le bruit du compresseur à suralimentation. |
