The invention relates to a method for trimming ophthalmic lenses in which an optical reference frame of the lens concerned and/or a trimming instruction is determined by means of a centration and/or trimming characteristic relating to the lens or to a related frame. According to the invention, the method comprises: a step in which a processing unit of a workshop (1) reads out from a remote register (200) in which each record is associated with a frame type and/or lens type, and comprises at least one centration and/or trimming characteristic of this type, with a search for a record corresponding to the type to which the frame and/or the lens concerned belongs, then, if no corresponding record is found in the register, a step of determining said at least one centration and/or trimming characteristic of the frame and/or of the lens in question, and a step of storing, in a new record of the register, said at least one centration and/or trimming characteristic. L'invention concerne un procédé de détourage de lentilles ophtalmiques dans lequel on détermine un référentiel optique de la lentille concernée et/ou une consigne de détourage de cette lentille au moyen d'une caractéristique de centrage et/ou de détourage relative à la lentille ou à une monture associée à la lentille. Selon l'invention, le procédé comprend : une étape de lecture par une unité de traitement d'un atelier (1) d'un registre distant (200) dont chaque enregistrement est associé à un type de montures et/ou de lentilles, et comprend au moins une caractéristique de centrage et/ou de détourage de ce type, avec une recherche d'un enregistrement correspondant au type auquel appartient la monture et/ou la lentille concernée, puis, si aucun enregistrement correspondant du registre n'est trouvé, une étape de détermination de ladite au moins une caractéristique de centrage et/ou de détourage de la monture et/ou de la lentille concernée, et une étape de mise en mémoire, dans un nouvel enregistrement du registre, de ladite au moins une caractéristique de centrage et/ou de détourage.
