Abstract | A device and method for tailoring the audio frequency response of a hearing instrument, such as a hearing aid, by altering the physical characteristics of the device to more accurately compensate for a user's specific hearing loss attributes. The device has a bore formed within its housing which provides a passage for the transmission of sound from the receiver of the hearing instrument toward the user's eardrum. The bore has a custom-designed geometric shape to emphasize desired sound frequencies and therefore produce a predetermined frequency response of sound in combination with any frequency response changes directed by the hearing instrument's circuitry.
L'invention concerne un dispositif et un procédé destinés à adapter spécifiquement la réponse en fréquence audio d'une prothèse auditive, tel qu'un appareil de correction auditive, en modifiant les caractéristiques physiques du dispositif pour compenser plus précisément les attributs spécifiques de perte auditive d'un utilisateur. Le dispositif comporte un trou formé à l'intérieur de son boîtier, lequel constitue un passage permettant la transmission du son provenant du récepteur de la prothèse auditive vers la membrane du tympan de l'utilisateur. Le trou présente une forme géométrique conçue de manière personnalisée afin d'augmenter les fréquences sonores souhaitées et donc produire une réponse prédéterminée en fréquence du son en combinaison avec toutes les éventuelles modifications de réponse en fréquence ordonnées par les circuits de la prothèse auditive. |
