Abstract The present invention is directed to a method of processing a video signal. The method includes the video signal being split into a low frequency signal and a high frequency signal. The low frequency signal being processed to reduce ringing artifacts. The high frequency signal being processed to reduce blocking artifacts. Further, the low frequency signal and high frequency signal being combined. Un procédé de traitement d'un signal vidéo consistant à diviser le signal en un signal basse fréquence et un signal haute fréquence. Le signal basse fréquence est traité pour réduire les artefacts de type sonnerie alors que le signal haute fréquence est traité pour réduire les artefacts de blocage. Par ailleurs, le signal basse fréquence et le signal haute fréquence sont combinés.
