Abstract | A backlighting system for liquid crystal display provides low power consumption and high efficiency. The backlighting system includes an array of LEDs (1) arranged in a matrix to generate backlight needed to display light and dark colors on the liquid crystal display. The backlighting system emulates light and dark areas of video images being displayed on the liquid crystal display, selectively backlighting only areas of the liquid crystal display that require backlighting, thereby reducing power consumption.
L'invention concerne un système de rétroéclairage pour afficheur à cristaux liquides permettant d'obtenir une faible absorption de puissance et une haute efficacité. Le système de rétroéclairage comprend un réseau de DEL agencé de manière à définir une matrice permettant de générer un rétroéclairage nécessaire pour afficher une lumière et des couleurs sombres sur l'afficheur à cristaux liquides. Le système de rétroéclairage émule la lumière et les zones sombres d'images vidéo affichées sur l'afficheur à cristaux liquides, rétroéclairant sélectivement uniquement des zones de l'afficheur à cristaux liquides qui nécessitent un rétroéclairage, réduisant ainsi la puissance absorbée. |
