Abstract Friction stir processing (FSP) provides a hardened golf club face that more efficiently transfers momentum between the golf club and the ball, increasing the launch velocity so as to provide increased loft (for a given distance traveled by the ball). The FSP hardened face is also more resistant to wear so that the golf club provides more consistent performance and lasts longer. A practice club having a friction stir processed sweet spot on the face may enable the golfer to feel whether the ball has been hit by the sweet spot. L'invention concerne un traitement par agitation friction (FSP) qui permet d'obtenir une face de canne de golf durcie susceptible de transférer plus efficacement la vitesse entre la canne et la balle, augmentant ainsi la vitesse de lancement de façon à produire une frappe en hauteur accrue (pour une distance donnée parcourue par la balle). La face durcie FSP est également plus résistante à l'usure, la canne de golf ayant ainsi une performance plus constante et une durée de vie plus longue. Grâce à une canne d'exercice ayant sur la face un point idéal traité par agitation friction, le golfeur peut sentir si la balle a été frappée par ledit point idéal.
