Abstract A light beam irradiation means (3) irradiates a predetermined region of a powder layer (10) formed on a stage with a light beam to sinter the powder in the predetermined region. A powder supply means (2) supplies a powder layer to the stage and to a sintered layer which has already been sintered. The light beam irradiation means (3) is adapted to radiate a light beam obliquely toward the powder layer (10) deviated from a position immediately above the light beam irradiation range. The fume produced by heating the powder layer with a light beam by irradiation rises to a position immediately thereabove; therefore, radiating a light beam from a position other than the one immediately thereabove reduces clouding due to fume from the light beam irradiating means.
