Abstract The present invention is directed to isothermal transcription based assays for the detection and quantification of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) mRNA. The present invention is also directed to oligonucleotides for amplifying AFP mRNA and probes for use in the detection and quantification of the amplification product. The present invention is also directed to detecting hepatocellular carcinoma, metastasis thereof and tumor recurrence by analyzing peripheral blood for the presence of AFP mRNA. La présente invention se rapporte à des bioanalyses basées sur une transcription isotherme pour la détection et la quantification d'ANRm d'alpha-fétroprotéine (AFP). La présente invention se rapporte également à des oligonucléotides d'amplification d'ANRm d'AFP et à des sondes pouvant être utilisées pour la détection et la quantification du produit d'amplification. La présente invention se rapporte en outre à la détection d'un carcinome hépatocellulaire, de la métastase d'un tel carcinome et d'une récurrence tumorale par analyse du sang périphérique aux fins de la détection d'ANRm d'AFP.
