Abstract A method for producing titanium oxide particles wherein titanium tetrachloride is oxidized at a high temperature with an oxidizing gas, characterized in that each of a titanium tetrachloride-containing gas and an oxidizing gas is preheated to a temperature of 500 DEG C or higher, and then fed to a reaction tube for reacting with each other, to thereby yield titanium oxide fine particles having a BET specific surface area of 3 m /g to 200 m /g. The finely particulate titanium oxide is a fine powder being reduced in the amount of coagulated particles and exhibits excellent dispersibility. L'invention concerne un procédé de production de particules d'oxyde de titane, dans lequel le tétrachlorure de titane est oxydé à haute température à l'aide d'un gaz d'oxydation. Ledit procédé se caractérise en ce que le gaz contenant du tétrachlorure de titane et le gaz oxydant sont chacun préchauffés et portés à une température d'au moins 500 DEG C, puis sont envoyés dans un tube de réaction pour qu'ils réagissent l'un avec l'autre et que des fines particules d'oxyde de titane présentant une surface spécifique BET de 3 m /g à 200 m /g, soient produites. L'oxyde de titane finement particulaire est une poudre fine réduite à des particules coagulées et présente une excellente dispersibilité.
