In detergent compositions suitable for cleaning fabrics or hard surfaces, containing a cationic disinfectant compound, the antimicrobial activity of the cationic disinfectant compound is maintained in the presence of anionic surfactant if an anionic polymer is also present. Preferred polymers are anionic cellulosic polymers such as sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, or acrylic/maleic copolymers. Preferred cationic disinfectants are quaternary ammonium compounds such as benzalkonium chloride. L'invention concerne des compositions adéquates pour le nettoyage de tissus ou de revêtements durs, qui contiennent un composé désinfectant cationique. L'activité antimicrobienne de ce composé est maintenue grâce à un agent tensio-actif anionique si un polymère anionique est également présent.
