Abstract A method mitigates or prevents voltage flicker in an electrical power system that includes at least one power generating, energy storing, or power dissipating facility connected to a power grid and a controller connected to the facility. The method includes receiving in the controller a power value at a present time t and a power value at time t+T or at time t−T to determine a power change of the facility, calculating a voltage flicker impact on the power grid of the power change, determining if the flicker impact of the power change is above a limit, and sending a control signal from the controller to the facility when the flicker impact of the power change is above the limit to adjust the facility.
