As described herein, provided compositions and methods are based on the development of certain compositions that include an influenza virus hemagglutinin antigen in combination with lipid vesicles that include a non-ionic surfactant (NISVs) and optionally an adjuvant. In certain embodiments, provided compositions remain potent even when they are not stored in a standard cold-chain system (i.e., they are thermostable).
