Summary:Method and system for reading radio frequency identification (RFID) tags in a portal system comprises performing a first detection and a second detection of the RFID tags in a portal zone. The method further involves performing a first and second sampling of the RFID tags in the portal zone. Thereafter, based on the first detection, second detection, first sampling and second sampling, an occurrence is determined of at least one of the RFID tags transitioning between a first physical space on one side of the portal system and a second physical space on an opposing side of the portal system.
