Abstract A process and kit which permit quantitative measurement in a single analysis step of a target antigen of a whole cell. The process and kit utilize a solid support onto which is bound at least one antibody that binds to and immobilizes the subject whole cell at a surface antigenic site other than the target antigen. A second, labeled antibody specific for the target antigen is then added, and the binding is then quantitatively measured by analytical means. The process of this invention can provide rapid quantitative assay, e.g., less than one hour, of multiple samples.
