Summary:A light source having a lamp for generating light generates a lamp on signal at an output terminal thereof when the lamp is lit. A lamp life meter is connected to the light source for detecting the time that the lamp has been lit. The lamp life meter includes a housing having at least one contact terminal adapted to be coupled to the output terminal of the light source, a clock generator located in the housing and generating clock signals, a counter located in the housing and counting the clock signals whenever the clock on signal indicates that the lamp is on and a display mounted in the housing for displaying an indication of the time the lamp has been turned on.
