Summary:A movable reflector type automobile headlamp in which the inclination of the reflector, and therefore the light beam, can be observed from in front of the headlamp. A level device is associated with the reflector, and an opening is provided in either the lamp body or the frame of the reflector such that the image of the level device is reflected by either a prism or a mirror, respectively, to the front of the headlamp. The inclination of the reflector is adjustable from in front of the headlamp through the use of interconnected aiming screws, gear mechanisms and adjusting screws. Further, a mechanically operated inclination detector is operatively connected with one of the adjusting screws for displaying a position of the reflector in a direction transverse to that indicated by the level device. The level device may be of a bubble type.
