Abstract There is disclosed a sterile thermometer and package for the same in which the thermometer is provided with shield components to maintain the thermometer operative temperature indicating component out of contact until the thermometer is required for use, with the thermometer further having a removal roller associated with the shield components and operative to facilitate the ease with which the shield components are removed from the thermometer concurrent with removal of the latter from the package envelope.
