Summary: | 1,016,802. Thermal switches. J. E. LINBERG. July 10, 1962 [July 13, 1961], No. 12771/65. Divided out of 1,016,801. Addition to 961,142. Heading H2B. A switch as in Specification 961,147 has a diaphragm contacting an electrode tip, e.g. of palladium, which is ingassed with hydrogen which can be driven out by the application of heat, so that if arcing occurs during contact breaking, hydrogen is driven out from the electrode tip and forces the diaphragm to move rapidly away from said electrode and thereby extinguish the arc. |
