Summary:Methods and systems for a storage system are provided. One method includes updating a device mapping array upon addition of a second storage device for a computing system having at least a first storage device for storing information. The device mapping array includes a plurality of entries, each entry pointing to a starting address of the first and second storage device; and a number of the plurality of entries are based on a total storage capacity of the first and the second storage device. The method further includes mapping free blocks of a logical address space for the first and the second storage device to a plurality of units of an allocator address space; and assigning the mapped plurality of units of the allocator address space to a queue associated with a processor of the computing system.
