Abstract | Disclosed is a multilayer biaxially oriented sheet- or tube-type food casing or food packaging film comprising in order from outside to inside an outside surface layer preferably comprising polyester; a gas barrier layer preferably comprising ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer positioned so that at least 60% of the total film thickness is to the inside of the gas barrier layer with respect to a package prepared from the film; an optionally shrinkable forming layer comprising polyolefins or ethylene copolymers; and an inside surface layer comprising polyethylene homopolymer or an ethylene alkyl (meth)acrylic acid copolymer or ionomer thereof. The casing or film can be produced by a blown film process and biaxially oriented by a triple-bubble process or by cast film process and biaxially oriented by a tenter frame process. |
